I did a LOT of research and testing before deciding on these bars. We purchased these for our 2013 Toyota Rav4. The OEM Toyota cross bars seemed like an afterthought on the part of Toyota so those weren't an option for us. I'll list some of the pros of going with the Thule AeroBlade Edge bars over the OEM Toyota bars:-- The AreoBlade Edge bars strap on to the side rails where the OEM bars use a pressure-type screw to secure themselves to the side rails.-- AeroBlade is rated to hold more weight (but you still need to consider the manufacturer limits for weight).-- The plastic "feet" (that's the part on either end of the bar that connects to the side rail) on the OEM bars extend too far inward on the rear OEM bar. That is, the usable surface of the rear OEM bar is really only about 20" where the Thule AeroBlade Edge bars have smaller feet and can accommodate our very wide Thule Cargo box.-- Appearance. I know this is subjective but I've yet to find someone who doesn't like the look of the AeroBlade bars on our Rav4. I honestly think that these look more like they belong than the Toyota bars.-- T-track capability on the AeroBlade bars. I have not utilized the T-Track *yet* but I plan to do so. There is no similar functionality on the Toyota crossbars. The other benefit of these is that they accept our older-style, U-shaped attachment for our Thule Evolution 1600 Cargo box... and they fit PERFECTLY. These bars are almost completely silent on our Rav with the sunroof shade closed (any bar you put up there will make *some* sound). One of the best aspects is the lower profile of these bars. I tried another style of Thule bars but the feet and bar stood up off of the roof so much so that I couldn't pull in and out of our garage with our box on top. That may not be a big deal to some others but for me it is since we tend to come home or depart for trips late at night. I don't have to be fidgeting around in the dark! I can just pull right in. If another Rav4 owner is reading, I would be glad to send you measurements that I took in regards to implementing these so you can see if your box will fit through your garage opening. Finally, I must say that the customer support I received from Thule has been great! I have had these bars for 7 months now. I had a COSMETIC flaw on one of my bars and within a few minutes on the phone, Thule customer service was making it right. For a COSMETIC flaw... one that does not even impact the usability of the product!I would highly recommend these to anyone looking to add more utility to their vehicle. I am not affiliated with Thule in any way whatsoever but I would be happy to answer any questions that I can in regards to these bars. I know they are expensive but it's my opinion that you get what you pay for in regards to these types of accessories and it's well worth the cost for the added utility and even the added looks!!2 year update:I'm happy to report that after 2 years of these being on top of our Rav4, They are still in great shape. These seem to have held up great. I just transferred them to our new Toyota Sienna (2016). I was worried that they wouldn't fit since the Sienna is larger but the same size (7502) ended up fitting on the Sienna van. I haven't yet driven with them on to comment on gas mileage decline or wind noise but my wife hasn't said anything about it. I'll update if it's a real problem. Added a photo!I ordered 2 crossbars.1st one arrived with ALL parts missing except the crossbar, clearly used. I sent it back, asking for a replacement. Replacement arrived very quickly - also clearly used, with missing wrench. I am waiting for the 2nd crossbar to arrive later in the week. If it has full set of parts - I can probably deal with the missing wrench in the 1st one. When I order - I order a brand new item. If I wanted a used one - I would have found one on ebay. I can ignore one used item with missing parts, but 2 in a row indicates an unacceptable pattern. Will (hopefully) adjust the rating when / if I have enough parts to actually install the crossbars. So far - very dissatisfied.Update to 3 stars after having used the product for a while. Once installed - no complains, it fits the vehicle, and is not noisy on the road.I initially had a problem with this bar (7503) in the sense that Amazon accidentally sent me one that someone else had tried to mount. i.e.. - a used bar. I also had technical difficulty installing the 7504 bar in that the track system was defective. The track system is how when you tighten the screw with the special tool it tightens the rubber wrap around clamp. As you're tightening the screw a piece of metal should slide easily through the track into the AeroBlade. Mine got hung up and stripped.I ordered a 7503 and a 7504 for my 2013 Honda Odyssey. To Amazon's credit they overnighted 2 new bars to me. However they did not arrive till 3 days later. Amazon technically overnighted them on Wednesday but the tracking number came Thursday. One bar came on Friday and the other on the following Monday. Sadly I did not have them for my trip which left on that Friday. But I survived without them. When I returned I had to return the defective/used bars and open up the new bars. Having gained experience from the 1st set I easily mounted the 2nd set. I recommend that while turning the screw make sure the metal is tracking nicely by pushing it down and watching it slide into the AeroBlade and alternately moving from one side of the bar to the other to torque evenly. Do not over tighten either - just enough to see the rubber clamp stretch and get tight. There will be some space between the rubber clamp and the bottom of the bar - don't try and stretch it until the space closes - too tight! These bars are solid and more substantial than the Honda OEM roof bars. They also can be moved forward of the Honda fixed position allowing for bigger boxes (not hitting your tailgate) and more flexibility. They sit high enough off of the car so that the clamps on my Thule Roofbox don't hit the top of my car. They do come close though so either use a towel or a good tall strong friend to make sure you don't scratch the paint.I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 for these reasons: Since the gap between my factory raised rails widens as you go closer to the front of the car the AeroBlade, while allowing for different widths due to spring widening system, still doesn't meet up with the front portion of my car. On the other side of the connection it is flush but because the car's rails flair aggressively the front part of the gap is open, maybe a 1/4 inch. This could mitigated by another adjustable piece of rubber on the front side. Hard to explain but it isn't flush. And it could be with more engineering. Also feel that the if you remove the rails a lot that the tiny metal part that receives the tightening tool could get worn and stripped. Already the tool is worn a bit from one tightening session. I'm glad I have the "virgin" second tool from the other bar.As a side note the bars do not come with locks... All in all there are no whistles and only minimal wind noise is heard. They are solid and "cool"!Mounted to 2020 Mercedes GLE450 with factory side rails and panoramic roof. Looks sleek, fairly close to OEM although the MB OEM cross bars are butt ugly and way too high so I decided to use these so they fit my other Thule one key products. Mostly using to mount Thule ski roof box.Install was straight forward. Pretty easy. Just a lot of hand screwing the hex bolts (46x each one x4 I believe!). Seems well made and sturdy except the plastic clips that “lock” and cover the actual hex bolts that hold it onto rail. Seems one could easily pry that off with a screw driver kr even a rock but I didn’t try.Biggest CON: there’s definitely a very noticeable wind howl once you hit 30 mph. After about 70mph it’s less noticeable prii oh ably just because their road noise catches up to balance. I’ll definitely take off the car when not in use Ailey due to the noise. Otherwise I’d consider leaving them off in between uses close together.
